Long Bathroom Renovation

I swear I’m in the process of the longest bathroom renovation in the world and the only person I can blame is myself. I can also blame that unfortunate global situation but that doesn’t really help anything. If anything, it actually makes me angrier. But that’s beside the point, the point is it’s my fault.

It’s the end of November right now and this ordeal has been happening since January. It all began when the shower in my kids’ bathroom caved in. Sounds bizarre, doesn’t it? We actually couldn’t believe it. We’re lucky it was my older kid who was in the shower when it happened because he was able to realise something was wrong and get out quickly. My younger child would not have been that smart.

I then spent the next six months fighting with the insurance company to try and get some compensation for our vital bathroom renovations. Melbourne renovations come at a steeper price than elsewhere, so we really needed to get some funding to help us out. Unfortunately, I lost the battle with the insurance company and we had to fund the entire renovation out of our own pocket. This halted the process for another two months as we tried to scrounge up the funds to be able to do so. My kids were getting furious at this point. They were begging me to just cop the bathroom renovation cost so that they could have their own shower again. Once my daughter started crying, I decided to accept that I just needed to do it.

As we finally got started with the bathroom renovation company, that global unfortunate thing happened and we had to stop all construction for two weeks. These two weeks turned into two months, and in this time my children not only didn’t have a shower, they also didn’t have a bathroom. I want to highlight that this was not the renovation company’s fault.
