Huge Glass Dome

Tinkabelle was back at it again with another crazy idea. After she managed to successfully build a birdhouse using human materials, she’d developed a bit of an ego. Surely, if she had been able to craft the craziest birdhouse any fairy had ever seen, she was capable of building anything – right? When the fairies announced that they would need a new gathering hall for grand occasions, Tinkabelle quickly volunteered. She knew the other tinker fairies would only be able to design a simple hall made from boring old wood – and possibly velvet, if they were feeling adventurous – but Tinkabelle had a grand idea. Imagine a hall in the shape of a dome, made entirely of glass that had been frosted with the help of Willow the winter fairy, a window tinting expert.

Her dome design would take a lot of work and engineering, but Tinkabelle was not about to pass up a challenge. She started by gathering materials. First, a trip to the winter side of fairyland. Willow walked Tinkabelle through all the different glass options available, as well as how they could be cut into the right shapes to construct the dome. Willow even offered Tinkabelle an affordable price. But Tinkabelle was not convinced. The fairies just didn’t have the right materials; she would have to venture into the human world again.

She flew straight to a store she’d passed on her first trip, a company offering office decorative window glass near Melbourne. As expected, she was not disappointed. The store had everything she would need, and the fairy working there not only understood her vision, but was willing to build on it and transform it into something amazing. The worker explained that frosted glass had the added benefit of reducing heat, and therefore cooling costs – a must in fairyland summers. Sold on the idea, Tinkabelle purchased more glass than she could afford and flew back home.
