Luxury Holiday Home

Our luxury holiday home build is well underway. When it became clear last month that we definitely wouldn’t be travelling overseas within the next couple of years, my husband was on the phone purchasing a large block of land. The land is right on the beach and the professional design and build contractors who we have hired to work on the project have designed the home in the best way possible to be able to enjoy the view.

As we have a lot more money than the average person, we’ve been able to fast track the build. We expect that our home will be ready by December, which means we can move in for the summer from the get-go. We’ve spent too much of the last two years stuck in inner-city Melbourne. Even our copious amounts of money couldn’t make us exempt from the unfortunate isolation we had to endure. But now that we’ve got some freedom back, we have chosen to exercise it and build a home on the Mornington Peninsula. I’d be very surprised if other people in our position didn’t decide to do the same.

I am very aware of how fortunate I am. I come from old money, money that has been in my family for generations. No matter how much I spend, it is money that will never run out. My husband is extremely well off himself, and therefore money really is no problem. That means that once our holiday home is fully built, we will be able to afford annual house repairs and maintenance. Mornington Peninsula maintenance men will keep our home in the best condition possible.

I am very much looking forward to retreating to the Mornington Peninsula this summer. We have designed the holiday home so that it is like a Mediterranean castle, making us feel like we’ve gone on our annual overseas holiday, even if we haven’t.
