Dance Studio Decorating

I’m opening a dance studio in Melbourne’s North next month. I am so excited. After being retrenched from my job as an accountant, I thought I’d never get a job again. My husband, bless his soul, said he would be more than happy for me to become a stay at home mum and look after our three girls. But I love having a career. I didn’t want to be a stay at home mum and after only two weeks I found myself going crazy.

Once I told my husband just how badly I was struggling, he suggested that I find a hobby whilst in between jobs. He said I should start dancing again. That’s when the lightbulb moment happened. I love to dance; I’m good at it and I could teach people to do it. So why don’t I?

After that conversation, I started looking for warehouses that would make good dance studios. I found one pretty quickly and today is my first day as the official tenant of a warehouse in Melbourne. I now get to start creating a great dance space. I’ll be adding barres, mirrors and I’m even going to put up dance-themed wallpapers to create a great space for dancing. I’m really looking forward to it.

Once my space is ready, I’m going to start taking applications for students. I want to keep my classes small to begin with so that I can ensure my students have a good experience. As the word spreads, I’ll open my classes up to more students.

Now that I think about it, I think I’m also going to decorate the warehouse’s kitchen. Maybe I’ll decorate the walls with flower wallpaper. Melbourne warehouses aren’t the prettiest things in the world, and I want my students to feel pretty when they are working with me. I really want to create a good experience for my future students. I am so excited!
